Taking Winnipeg's Pulse: Community indicator system launches Dec. 3

WINNIPEG—Dec. 2, 2013—Think of it like a check-up for Winnipeg. Peg, a new community indicator system, will launch tomorrow, a partnership between United Way of Winnipeg and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).  

The first indicator being released looks at children’s readiness to learn when entering school, and experts will be on hand to explain the data and what it means for Winnipeg. 

Following the official launch, volunteers will be available to demonstrate how Peg works and offer site tours.

WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: United Way office, 580 Main St., main floor *(parking available behind building)WHO:  Doug Finkbeiner, United Way, Scott Vaughan*, IISD and Katelin Neufeld, U of M student*Scott Vaughan est bilingue.

WHY:  Peg will measure the health of Winnipeg year over year – in ways that count.  You will be able to track how peoples’ lives, neighbourhoods and the city is changing – for good and for bad.
