WINNIPEG, October 8, 2008Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and Yvo de Boer, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will face a full house when they meet Thursday morning in New York for a high-level discussion on ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Although the event is fully booked, it will be webcast here.

The event is designed to focus attention on a critical core element of the global climate change negotiations, which are scheduled to culminate in a new international agreement in Copenhagen, December 2009.

International Emissions Trading Association President and CEO Henry Derwent and Columbia University Ewing-Worzel Professor of Geophysics Klaus S. Lackner will also take part in the discussion that will focus primarily on the critical issues of environmental integrity, economic efficiency and long-term policy implications.
